Nonindigenous Occurrences: Florida:  Several Podocnemis unifilis were released in Hialeah, Dade County, in the vicinity of W 27 Street and E 7 Avenue, including the adjacent Hialeah (Red Road) Canal in 1964 (King and Krakauer 1966).

Means of Introduction: Pet escape/release

Status: Failed

Impact of Introduction: Unknown

Remarks: The animals were released rather than destroyed when they became sick and unsuitable for sale. None recovered. All released between May and September 1964.
