Method:

Field teams collect fish by overnight sets of trap nets, minnow traps and gill nets as well as seining after sunset.  Fish sampling is stratified by habitat and random within habitat.

Trap nets are set overnight and retrieved the next morning.  Trap net specifications (e.g., length, mesh size) are not given.

This long (55 pg) document describes these methods in detail.

Method:

This protocol uses three gear types: gill nets, Fyke nets and electroshocking

Fyke nets:

1) Should be set perpendicular to shore

2) Should be set in the evening before electrofishing starts and retrieved the next morning

3)  Record set time and pick up time

4) Try to set the net so the top of the first hoop is no more than about one foot under the water's surface.

Method:

This monitoring protocol calls for a combination of gear types, including electrofishing, hoop netting, Fyke netting and trawling.

Wisconsin-style Fyke nets are used.  All netting material is #12 nylon 1.8-cm-diameter bar mesh, with black asphalt-type coating (Netcoat, Memphis Net and Twine Co.).

The standard unit of Fyke netting effort is the net-day, where a day is 24.0 h and each cab counts as one net.

See text for extensive description of methodology.
