| Impact Description | There have been reports of blooms of Thalassiosira bramaputrae and outcompete other species in Tokyo Bay, but these high densities have never been recorded in the Great Lakes basin. It is able to survive at salinities as low as 0.5‰ but only grows rapidly above 8‰. This is likely a limiting factor on the distribution of T. lacustris in the Great Lakes. |
