Two of the species, Alnus rhombifolia Nutt. and Alnus rubra Bong. are native to the west coast. A portion of the native range for Alnus serrulate (AIton) Willd. is in the Great Lakes; it can be found in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. |
