Impact Description | In 2011, Aeromonas salmonicida was isolated from a Michigan state hatchery for the first time since 2005 and was detected in 2% of returning adult Atlantic salmon collected from the St. Mary’s River, Michigan. Following elevated mortalities observed in Michigan in 2011, twenty cases of production and brood stock Atlantic salmon were tested for pathogens. Aeromonas salmonicida was detected in three of the twenty cases. However, analysis showed that furunculosis was not the cause of mortality. |
