CommentsThe Oregon Invasive Species Hotline received a call from a Coos Bay resident who reported catching a mitten crab at the Roseburg Forest Producs dock by the North Spit of Coos Bay. She was crabbing with a crab ring with a fish carcass as bait in about 25 ft of water. She described the bottom as rocky. It was about 2.5-3" carapace width. She described "hairy" claws and didn't know what it was so she threw it back. She seemed to know her crabs well. This is the first report of a mitten crab from Coos Bay, and the second report from Oregon this year.
