| Impact Description | The yabby (Cherax destructor) is a frequent prey item for predatory aquatic birds. A study conducted on a crayfish farm in Australia reported predation by a heron (Egretta novaehollandiae), two ibis species (Threskiornis aethiopica and T. spinicollis), and a spoonbill (Platalea flavipes). Observations suggest that three cormorant species (Phalacrocorax carbo, P. melanoleucos, and P. varius) also preyed upon the yabby. |
