Impact Description | The underside of Hydrilla verticillata leaves were found to harbor Aetokthonos hydrillicola, an epiphytic cyanobacteria associated with avian vacuolar myelinopathy (AVM). Essentially, aquatic plants and epiphytic algae are primary food sources for coots, which subsequently become sick and consumed by other species like bald eagles. |
