Anguillicola crassus uses a “Trojan Horse” strategy to infect round gobies. Anguillicola crassus infests encapsulated cysts created by acanthocephalans parasite Pomphorhynchus laevis. Despite nematodes invading cyst, P. laevis remained alive. Anguillicola crassus enclosed by the cysts can remain viable and infest European eels.
