| Impact Description | Because zebra mussels used the shipwrecks as attachment substrates, they may have contributed to the elevated concentrations of toxic metals on the shipwrecks. Fine particulate matter which zebra mussels filtered and deposited was found to be highly contaminated with toxic metals. |
