Impact DescriptionDutton et al. (2021) were the first to document the occurrence of a polystome (Neopolystoma cf. orbiculare) living inside the bladders of two Alligator Snapping Turtles from Comet Lake, Mississippi. No reports of M. temminckii acting as a vector of this parasite have been published, however, it is possible that this could happen in areas where this species is introduced.
