Impact Description | In 1997, infection by Leyogonimus polyoon caused a large scale mortality of coots (Fulica americana) in northeastern Wisconsin. Mortality events have occurred annually since then. Mass bird mortality at infested sites may temporarily impact recreational use of those areas. |
