| Impact Description | In Lake Ontario, it was also thought that the addition of a zooplanktivorous invertebrate could alter the food web and increase toxin biomagnification levels in top predators. Conversely, studies indicate that this is probably not the case, largely because alewife does not feed heavily on Cercopagis pengoi (fishhook flea). |
