Impact DescriptionSolanum dulcamara (bittersweet nightshade), along with other plants in the nightshade family, is poisonous. It produces solanine in its leaves, shoots, and unripe berries. If ingested by animals, it can cause difficult breathing, weakness, dermatitis, gastrointestinal irritation/pain, nervous system problems, and in severe cases, death.
