Impact DescriptionA socio-economic survey in Madagascar reports negative impacts on rice farming from marbled crayfish burrowing. Negative impacts were reported across all sites and linked to marbled crayfish burrows destroying the mud walls around the rice fields. Other responses, however, indicate perceived positive impact on rice farming because marbled crayfish burrowing behavior loosens and aerates the soil.
