Impact DescriptionJuvenile Mayan Cichlid diets in South Florida consisted primarily of fish, followed by ostracods, filamentous algae, and detritus. Adult diets comprised fish, filamentous algae, decapods, and snails, with the presence of hard-bodied prey being linked to development of crushing molariform teeth.
