Impact DescriptionHoplosternum littorale reduced both abundance and diversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates in experimental enclosures. This was driven primarily by reductions in Chironomidae larvae and Amphipods. Hoplosternum littorale may therefore possibly compete with native fishes when prey are limited.
