Impact DescriptionBlue Tilapia in Lake Julian, NC, are opportunistic feeders. During a phytoplankton bloom, stomachs contained organic detritus, phytoplankton (Spirogyra sp., Encyonema prostratum) and zooplankton (Bosmina longirostris, copepods, Otracods, Cyclops vernalis, and Daphnia ambigua). Inorganic detritus comprised more stomach contents when phytoplankton was less abundant, along with phytoplankton (Oedogonium sp., Staurastrum natator) and zooplankton (Ostracods, Macrothrix laticornis).
