Impact Description | According to stable isotope analysis, silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) had overlapping trophic niches with other fish species in the Missouri River. Its highest overlap was with bigmouth buffalo (93.6%), followed by gizzard shad (90.6%) and American paddlefish(35.4%). Overall, bighead carps trophic overlap with native species was 71% on average. This competition could have negative effects on native fish species. |
