Impact DescriptionInvasive Faxonius rusticus have been hypothesized to negatively impact Cryptobranchus alleganiensis, a crayfish dietary specialist, through dietary exclusion, as well as habitat displacement from shelter rocks, however, Hartzell et al (2021) found that hellbenders consumed both rusty and native crayfish and found no evidence of displacement of hellbenders from shelter rocks.
