CommentsWater hyacinth and water lettuce was found in a number of places upstream (within 5 miles of this site) and downstream (within 1 mile of this site) in summer 2011 by WI DNR employees. FWS and WI DNR removed all plants that were found that year. This year's initial estimate of hyacinth plants in this area was 4000. The site was sprayed twice, then the remaining plants were collected by hand. In the future we plan to monitor earlier and collect plants without spraying. Voucher specimen made by Paul Skawinski, Scott Provost, and Sam Betterley from samples collected on August 15, 2012 and submitted to Robert W. Freckmann Herbarium, UW - Stevens Point.; EDDMapS report
