| Impact Description | Faxonius rusticus displaces Faxonius propinquus in its native range through hybridization. Genetic hybridization has been observed in locations spanning most of the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan, with F. rusticus males able to outcompete F. propinquus males for F. propinquus females. Hybrids are competitively superior and ultimately excludes genetically pure F. propinquus faster than F. rusticus could directly. |
