Impact DescriptionAstronotus ocellatus consumes the same food as many native fishes. Although some plant material was present in gut contents, mostly unidentified seeds, the bulk of the identified material was animal in origin (Table 10). Insects, fish, fish scales and amphibians were important components of this material.
