Impact DescriptionPredation of native fishes by Walking Catfish in south Florida is noted mostly in the dry season (November to April or May), when low water conditions concentrate native species together with his exotic in deeper, often isolated, refuges (Courtenay 1970). Under such conditions Walking Catfish begin to prey heavily on native fishes, and will often kill large bass without subsequently eating them.
