Impact Description | Early on, Enteric septicemia of catfish was believed to affect only ictalurid catfishes, but in recent years the hosts and geographic range of Edwardsiella ictaluri have expanded. The disease has been reported in cultured Pangasius “basa” from Vietnam, Clarias “walking catfish” from Thailand, and yellow catfish from China. Caused by the bacterium Edwardsiella ictaluri, this disease is of considerable concern to North American commercial catfish operations. |
