Impact DescriptionBefore the invasion of round gobies, few dreissenid predators occurred in Lake Erie, keeping contaminants confined to the benthos. The invasion of the round goby has produced a new pathway through which these contaminants enter the food web. Our key finding was that Pb biodiminished whereas Hg biomagnified through the food web to top predators.
