Impact Description | Dietary overlap was present among both bigheaded carp species, Gizzard Shad, and Bigmouth Buffalo in the Illinois and Mississippi rivers. Although there was little evidence that bighead and silver carp were reducing zooplankton abundance, results did not rule out the possibility that these species could limit food resources for native fishes as the populations of bigheaded carp continue to increase in the Illinois and Mississippi rivers. |
