Impact DescriptionPterygoplichthys "disjunctivus" will attach to stationary wintering manatees and graze on epibiota. This disturbs the manatees who may try to dislodge the catfish or move to colder, river waters and thus raising their metabolic rate and potentially decreasing their overwintering fitness.
