Impact Description | Higher Mayan Cichlid abundance in South Florida was inversely correlated with abundance of several species of small native fishes (Sheepshead Minnows, Marsh Killifish, and Eastern Mosquitofish) in warm years, attributable to predation and possibly competition. Mayan Cichlid populations were reduced in cool years, releasing the native species from strong predation pressure. |
