Impact Description | In southeastern Brazil, where Hoplosternum littorale are not native, their success may be due to facilitation by other non-native species, the predatory Pygocentrus nattereri (Piranha) and Cichla cf. kelbery (tucunare). It is hypothesized that the non-native predators differentially consume native species, releasing Hoplosternum littorale from competition with other benthivores. |
