Impact DescriptionStomach content analyses of 19 Caiman crocodilus at least 60 cm total length (TL) in Florida found mostly fish: Lepomis macrochirus, Tilapia mariae, Ictalurus nebulosus, Centropomus undecimalis, and Megalops atlanticus, but also one Phalacrocorax auritus cormorant and one instance of mammalian hair. Caiman under 60 cm TL stomach contents included Lithobates sphenocephalus frogs and tadpoles; Poecilia latipinna, Gambusia affinis, and Tilapia mariae fishes; and unidentified invertebrates.
