Impact DescriptionAccording to stable isotope analysis, bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthis nobilis) had overlapping trophic niches with other fish species in the Missouri River. Its highest overlap was with bigmouth buffalo (94.1%) and its lowest was with American paddlefish (26.8%). Overall, bighead carps trophic overlap with native species was 64% on average. This competition could have negative effects on native fish species.
