Impact DescriptionIn the Philippines, the Pomacea canaliculata infested area has expanded rapidly and increased pesticide expenditures. For example, costs for 1988 treatment are estimated at 2-4 million US$ based on the retail price of endosulfan at 10 US$/I, recommended rate 0-5 I/ha, and organo-tin compounds at 24 US$/I, recommended rate 0-4 I/ha. Additional use of preventive and corrective control methods also induces high labour costs.
