Impact DescriptionEichhornia crassipes can potentially alter predator-prey relationships. In San Joaquin Delta, California, insect densities where lower in patches of E. crassipes and there was a difference in insect composition between E. crassipes and the native pennywort (Hydrocotyle umbellata). It is suggested that the presence of E. crassipes may influence native invertebrate community assemblages.
