Impact DescriptionIn lab trials Pomacea maculata fed on Aetokthonos hydrillicola confirmed to have the toxin causing Avian vacuolar myelinopathy present. The same Pomacea maculata that fed on the contaminated Aetokthonos hydrillicola were then fed to chickens. This resulted in all 5 chickens in the study developing brain lesions consistent with Avian vacuolar myelinopathy.
