Impact DescriptionShannon diversity indices and the number of native plant species were greater at sampling stations with Butomus umbellatus than at stations with the harmful exotic grasses Phalaris arundinacea and Phragmites australis. Researchers speculated that even the densest populations of flowering rush may leave some available space for native species as a result of its particular growth form.
