Impact DescriptionIn Lake Michigan, the decline of Daphnia retrocurva and Daphnia pulicaria populations, in contrast to relatively stable populations of Daphnia mendotae, has been attributed to the latter's markedly faster escape responses to Bythotrephes longimanus (spiny waterflea).
