Impact DescriptionPeriphyton productivity showed a 4 to 7 fold increase in enclosures where Faxonius rusticus were present, likely due to the indirect effect of reduced macroinvertebrate grazer densities and the direct effect of the reduction of non-photosynthetic portions of the periphyton matrix.
