Impact DescriptionLakes and streams containing Faxonius rusticus populations may experience slower colonization and lower overall densities of zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) than systems lacking crayfish, although it is unlikely that these crayfish can reduce zebra mussel populations below levels that are ecologically important.
