Impact DescriptionIn New Zealand rivers, Didymosphenia geminata blooms have been observed in conjunction with changed community composition. Observed changes include increased periphyton biomass, increased invertebrate, Chironomidae, Cladocera, and Nematode densities. Communities were also observed to transition to Oligochaeta dominated.
