Comments | Discovery fall 2009: Plant specimen submitted by citizen, confirmed as European naiad late November 2009 by VLMP and DEP. May 2010: Maine DEP staff unexpectedly found curly leaf pondweed during visit to inspect early growth of European naiad. 2009: Patches of European naiad found throughout approximately 5-acre pond. 2010: Patches of curly leaf pondweed were found, in most places mixed with native vegetation. This is the first waterbody in Maine known to be infested with two species of invasive plants. |
