CommentsThe Mississippi map turtle was not historically found as far east as the Pearl River. Specimens occur there now, however debate continues about the pathway. McCoy and Vogt not that flooding of the Mississippi River in 1979 may have encouraged natural range expansion or the specimen could be a released pet.
