| Comments | A low density (few snails per square meter) of New Zealand Mudsnails were collected by Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Biologists at this site during targeted surveys. Live snails were examined under microscope, dissected, and confirmed by the PFBC's Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator on 9/27/22. This, as well as a second sample taken in nearby in Falling Spring Branch appears to be the first record of NZM in the Potomac River basin. The PFBC will conduct outreach such as placing signs at this location alerting anglers to clean gear to reduce the risk of spread. |
