Title:Maine DEP Invasive Aquatic Plant Map
Publisher:Maine Department of Environmental Protection
CommentsMaine DEP, MidCoast Conservancy. 2011-2016_ Maine DEP Midcoast Conservancy Survey Damariscotta lake and lagoon for hydrilla. Scattered plant is removed around the barriers in the lagoon. No plant found outside of lagoon. 2010_ Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association mobilized volunteers for Lake survey. No hydrilla found elsewhere. DEP controlled infestation with herbicide treatment within the .3-acre lagoon, surveillance and manual _hand_ removal of plants from nearby cove and deployment of benthic barriers in lagoon for long-term hydrilla suppression. 2009_ Infestation limited to 0.3-acre lagoon and several plants just outside lagoon on west side of Lake, just north of narrows. DEP fenced off two outlets connected to Lake. Conducted two days of manual _hand_ removal within lagoon and deployed benthic barriers on plants just outside lagoon October. DEP permanently closed off one of the two outlets with rip-rap stone. Eradicated as of 2018
