Impact DescriptionAlternanthera philoxeroides exhibits allelopathic effects on neighboring plants. The allelochemical component of root extracts was ethyl propionate, through pot experiments this substance has been found to cause ‘highly inhibitory’ effects on other plants, such as Zoysia matrella.
