Impact DescriptionIn arid regions where water is limited, Arundo donax competes for water resources and has an extremely high water usage. Reported water usage in infestations of South Africa are reported to be 4.35 million m^3 yr^-1. In the Rio Grande Basin of Texas and Northern Mexico, water usage of infestations of Arundo donax was reported to be 56.2 million m^3 yr^-1. In Central Valley of California, infestation water usage was reported to be 37.8 million m^3 yr^-1.
