CommentsSpecimen was found by a UMN & Macalester College professor and his colleagues and was attached to a living Potamilus alatus (native mussel) on July 13, 2017. In all we spent 3.8 person hours and only found the single Dreissena. They found the animal on 7/13/2017 at approximately 45.156024, -95.734550. The Dreissena was living with the P. alatus at ?1 m depth. The specimen was approximately 3 cm long (see photo 1). Team were collecting mussels by hand using snorkeling equipment. Much of the river reach in that area was wadable but with low visibility. Substrate comprised of large areas of shifting sand with significant patches of gravel & cobble.
