Size: 7.1 cm.

Native Range: Brazos River drainage, Texas (Page and Burr 1991).

Means of Introduction: Unknown; possible bait bucket release.

Status: Reported from Texas.

Impact of Introduction: The impacts of this species are currently unknown, as no studies have been done to determine how it has affected ecosystems in the invaded range. The absence of data does not equate to lack of effects. It does, however, mean that research is required to evaluate effects before conclusions can be made.

Remarks: Lee et al. (1980 et seq.) stated that this species was apparently introduced into the Colorado River and their map denotes a single location. Hubbs et al. (1991) stated that the Smalleye Shiner is presumed to have been introduced into the Colorado River near Austin. These authors added that the fish had not been collected for more than 20 years and may be extinct.
