Impact DescriptionThe combined survey and experimental results strongly indicate that Dreissena polymorpha causes elevated toxin concentrations in lakes with low to moderate nutrients. The increase in a toxic cyanobacteria, Microcystis aeruginosa, may negatively impact food webs and public health.
