Impact DescriptionA large number of medicinal properties are attributed to the P. Stratiotes. Pistia stratiotes has cooling and demulcent properties and is given in dysuria. Ground leaves are applied to skin conditions, such as hemorrhoids. Mixed with rice and coconut milk they are given to treat dysentery, and with rose-water and sugar in cough and asthma. Roots are a laxative and emollient.
